Eid Al Adha 2025 in Dubai: 5 Key Things Employees Need to Know

As one of the most significant public holidays in the UAE, Eid Al Adha 2025 brings not only spiritual importance but also a well-earned break for employees across Dubai. Whether you’re working in the public or private sector, or planning how to spend your holiday, it’s essential to know what to expect during this extended festive period. Here are five important things Dubai employees should keep in mind for Eid Al Adha 2025.

1. Holiday Dates for Private Sector Employees

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has officially confirmed the Eid Al Adha break for private sector employees. Workers in this sector will enjoy holidays from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8, corresponding to Dhu Al Hijjah 9 to 12 in the Islamic calendar. Normal work will resume on Monday, June 9. This four-day break offers a perfect opportunity for rest, travel, or spending quality time with family and friends.

2. Holiday Dates for Public Sector Employees

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has similarly announced that public sector workers will observe the same Eid holiday dates: Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8. Government offices and departments will reopen on Monday, June 9. This synchronized break ensures consistency across sectors and allows the entire city to embrace the festive spirit together.

3. What If You’re Asked to Work During the Holiday?

Not every job can pause during the holidays, and some employees may be required to work during Eid. According to Federal Decree Law No. (33) of 2021, specifically Article 28, employees are entitled to official public holidays with full pay. However, if you’re required to work, your employer must either:

  • Provide a substitute day off, or
  • Compensate you with your full day’s wage plus an additional 50% of your basic salary for that day.

Knowing your rights ensures you’re treated fairly while fulfilling work responsibilities during the holiday.

4. Changes in Public Transport and Parking

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced revised schedules for public transport during Eid. From Wednesday, June 4 to Saturday, June 7, Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, buses, and marine transport will operate extended hours to help residents commute more easily. Additionally, public parking across Dubai will be free during the holiday period. Whether you’re heading to the office or out with family, these changes make commuting hassle-free.

5. Make the Most of Your Time Off

With a long weekend ahead, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy Eid Al Adha in Dubai. From fireworks displays and cultural events to family-friendly activities, food festivals, and retail promotions, the city is buzzing with excitement. Whether you’re looking to relax, explore, or celebrate, there’s something for everyone. Make sure to check out official city guides and event listings to plan your perfect holiday weekend.
