On October 25, 2024, the UAE government introduced significant revisions to its traffic laws, including a reduction in the minimum age for obtaining a driving license from 18 to 17. This reform is part of a larger federal decree designed to modernize the country’s traffic regulations in line with global transportation trends. The new laws introduce updated vehicle classifications to include self-driving and electric vehicles. Clear protocols have been established for their inspection, registration, and licensing, ensuring their safe integration into the existing traffic system.
