Dubai Launches Five New Major Bus Routes to Meet Growing Demand

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is expanding the city’s public transport network with the launch of five major bus routes on Friday, August 29, alongside improvements to nine existing services. This move comes as Dubai’s population nears four million, increasing the demand for reliable and convenient ways to travel across the city.

The introduction of new routes will improve connectivity in busy districts such as Al Ghubaiba, Jebel Ali, Al Quoz, and Al Qusais. Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, explained that the goal is to strengthen the bus network while ensuring smooth integration with other transport systems, including the metro, tram, and marine services.

Among the new additions, two routes—62A and 62B—have been created by splitting the existing Route 62 to better serve passengers in Al Qusais. Route 62A will run between Al Qusais Industrial Area and Al Qusais Metro Station, while Route 62B will connect Al Qusais Metro Station with Ras Al Khor’s Samari Residences. Both routes will operate every 30 minutes during peak hours, offering commuters more reliable options.

Another key service is Route F26A, linking Onpassive Bus Station with Al Quoz Industrial Area 4. This route will make travel within Al Quoz Industrial Area easier, with buses also running every 30 minutes during peak periods. For those traveling longer distances, the new Route X91 will operate as an express service between Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and Jebel Ali Bus Station. Unlike the existing Route 91, the X91 skips Business Bay Metro Station to provide a faster connection. Passengers who still need to reach Business Bay can continue to use the adjusted Route 91, which will maintain a 30-minute frequency.
