Dubai Mall Temporarily Closes Grand Parking Amidst Major Expansion Plans

Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest and most visited shopping destinations, has temporarily closed one of its key parking areas as part of a major development initiative. Effective Monday, June 16, the Grand Parking P1 and P2 sections have officially shut down, marking a significant shift in visitor traffic and parking accessibility at the iconic mall.

Located on the Financial Street side of Dubai Mall, Grand Parking is the smallest of the mall’s four major parking facilities, offering 694 parking slots. Despite its relatively limited capacity, it has been a convenient option for visitors accessing the mall via Financial Center Road. Its closure is part of a broader infrastructure enhancement effort as Dubai Mall prepares for the opening of the new Grand Drive, slated to launch in August 2025.

To accommodate shoppers during this period, the mall has advised visitors to use the remaining three parking zones — Fashion Parking, Cinema Parking, and Zabeel Parking — all of which continue to operate normally. These areas offer extensive space and access to key mall attractions, helping ensure that customer convenience remains a priority despite the temporary disruptions.

In addition to the parking changes, Dubai Mall has also redirected or closed several internal roads and entry/exit points to support the ongoing expansion. Most notably, the Lower Financial Exit Ramp and the Upper Financial Exit Ramp are now inaccessible. Mall-goers accustomed to using these routes will need to seek alternative pathways, with rerouted traffic now channeled through Grand Drive and Cinema P3.

Valet users are also affected by these changes. Anyone who typically utilizes the Grand Drive Valet service is advised to adjust their arrival and departure plans accordingly. Visitors are encouraged to follow on-site signage for updated directions and to allow extra travel time, especially during peak hours.

The temporary inconvenience comes in the wake of rapid growth and record-breaking footfall. In 2024, Dubai Mall surpassed its own attendance record, welcoming more than 111 million visitors — the highest ever recorded at the retail destination. Home to over 1,200 retail outlets, including luxury department stores like Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s, as well as more than 200 dining venues, Dubai Mall remains a powerhouse in global retail and tourism.
