Key Enhancements on Sheikh Zayed Road
The recent upgrades focus on critical sections of Sheikh Zayed Road, which connects prominent landmarks such as the Dubai International Financial Centre, Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Mall. The improvements also benefit surrounding residential areas, commercial hubs, hotels, and entertainment facilities. Below are the major upgrades implemented:
- Service Road Expansion Near Financial Centre Metro Station
The service road in the Abu Dhabi-bound direction near the Financial Centre Metro Station has been expanded from three to four lanes. This upgrade increases road capacity by 25%, allowing up to 3,200 vehicles per hour. As a result, travel times in this area have been significantly reduced from five minutes to just two minutes. - Improved Merging Distance Between Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street
In the Dubai-bound direction, the merging distance between Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street has been optimized. This improvement has reduced travel time by 25%, cutting it from four minutes to three minutes. The enhancement ensures smoother traffic flow and minimizes bottlenecks during peak hours.
